ViewLux Kitchen Remodeling: The San Antonio Owner’s Guide
If your ViewLux kitchen has a failed hinge, warped drawer box, stripped cabinet cam lock, or a delaminating panel, we stock and install ViewLux-compatible replacement parts across San Antonio. A typical ViewLux kitchen remodeling with parts and labor runs $14,000 to $45,000 depending on cabinet scope, countertop material, and how much of the existing layout stays put. Most San Antonio homeowners discover the problem the hard way: a door that won’t close flush, a drawer that grinds every time you open it, or a soft-close mechanism that stopped catching about a year after the warranty ended.

ViewLux makes a specific line of modular kitchen cabinetry and hardware, and the failure points are consistent: hinge plates loosen in the door bore, drawer runners lose their nylon bearings, and edge banding lifts on doors near the stove or dishwasher. That last one is a San Antonio classic and not ViewLux’s fault. Our heat and humidity swings make PVC edge banding expand and contract until it peels. We see it in Alamo Heights, Stone Oak, Leon Valley, everywhere.
Which ViewLux Models This Applies To

ViewLux cabinetry runs on a modular system, so most hinges, runners, and drawer boxes interchange across their shaker and slab door lines. The detail that trips people up is the hinge type. Older ViewLux boxes used a 35 mm cup hinge with a 9 mm overlay, while newer runs switched to a 35 mm cup with a 13 mm overlay. Get that overlay wrong and the door never sits flush, no matter how many times you adjust the screw. The hinge cup itself says the overlay on the stamped arm, but in our experience, San Antonio humidity has faded plenty of those stamps. Measure the door’s overlay from the hinge side to the cabinet opening edge. That’s the number that matters.
Drawer boxes are more forgiving. ViewLux uses a standard side-mount runner with a 1/2 inch clearance on each side, which means quality aftermarket runners from Blum or Hettich work fine. We keep both on hand. For anything with ViewLux-integrated LED strip lighting, stick with ViewLux OEM connectors. The pin spacing is proprietary, and splicing an aftermarket connector into a 12V line that runs through the cabinet is how you melt a channel. We are an independent San Antonio service provider, not affiliated with ViewLux, so we’ll tell you straight when OEM is the only smart call and when aftermarket saves you money.

Signs Your ViewLux Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Doors hang crooked or won’t close flush. This is usually a worn hinge plate or a stripped bore in the door itself. The hinge’s adjustment screws can only compensate for so much before the plate needs replacing or the bore needs a plug-and-redrill.
- Drawers stick, wobble, or drop when extended. Side-mount runners lose their ball bearings over time, especially in San Antonio, where fine dust from our dry summers works into the track. A drawer that drops is a runner that’s done, not a drawer that needs adjusting.
- Soft-close mechanisms stop catching. The small pneumatic damper inside the hinge or runner has a finite life, usually 10 to 15 years of daily use. When it goes, the door slams. The hinge still works, but that damper is not serviceable as a standalone part.
- Edge banding peels on doors and drawer fronts. Heat from a range or dishwasher plus San Antonio’s humidity cycle loosens the adhesive on PVC edge banding. Once it lifts at a corner, it keeps peeling. This is a re-band job, not a glue-and-clamp fix, and it’s very common on ViewLux doors from the 2010s.
- Cam locks and dowels loosen on cabinet boxes. Modular cabinets rely on cam-and-dowel joints. If a wall cabinet starts to rack or a base cabinet creaks when you set something heavy on it, the cam locks have backed off or the dowel holes have stripped. This needs a partial disassembly and often a through-bolt repair.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A full ViewLux kitchen remodeling in San Antonio runs $14,000 to $45,000 installed. The low end covers door and drawer front replacement, new hardware, re-banding, and a few cabinet box repairs. The high end covers full cabinet replacement, new countertops, a new island, and backsplash. Parts-only work often lands lower, and we’ll quote it line by line. If you just need a hinge job and a re-band on four doors, you’re not paying for a remodel. You’re paying for the parts and the labor to make your kitchen close right again.
Every quote includes the part, the labor to install it, and the disposal of the old parts. No change orders, no “oh, we found something” upcharge. The written price you approve is the price you pay. That’s how we run every job in San Antonio, and it’s backed by the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If a hinge we installed fails within a year or an edge band we applied lifts again, we come back and fix it. No argument, no invoice.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself before calling. Look for the overlay stamp on an existing hinge, count how many doors and drawers are actually failing, and take photos of the hinge cup and runner profile. That helps us bring the right parts on the first trip. What you should not do is start pulling hinges off and re-boring door cups with a drill. If your bore is off by two millimeters, the door never sits right and you’ve ruined a door front that costs more to replace than the hinge job would have cost to hire out.
Electrical is the real line. If your ViewLux setup includes integrated LED lighting and a channel is flickering or dead, do not splice it. That’s a 12V system running inside a wooden cabinet, and a bad splice is a fire risk, not a weekend project. Call us at (432) 547-6806. We’ll bring the right connectors, the right overlay hinges, and the right runners, and we’ll have the job done without turning your kitchen into a science experiment.
FAQs

ViewLux cabinets typically last 15 to 25 years in San Antonio with normal use. Hinges and runners wear out before the boxes fail. The box construction is solid; the moving parts and edge banding are what go first, usually between year 8 and year 15. Call (432) 547-6806 for an assessment if you’re seeing wear.
A hinge with a stripped bore can sometimes be repaired with a plug-and-redrill, but a worn hinge plate or a dead soft-close damper is a replace, not a repair. Drawer runners are almost always replace, since the ball bearings are not serviceable. We’ll tell you which one you have before quoting any work.
A typical hinge and runner replacement on 10 to 15 doors and drawers takes one 4-to-6 hour visit in San Antonio. Re-banding doors adds a day because the doors come off, get routed, banded, and re-installed. A full kitchen remodel runs 3 to 8 weeks depending on cabinet lead times and countertop fabrication. Estimates are free.
We stock common ViewLux-compatible hinges, runners, cam locks, and edging on the truck, including Blum and Hettich aftermarket equivalents where they match spec. Proprietary LED connectors and unusual overlay sizes may need a quick order. If we have it, we’ll say so. If we don’t, we’ll tell you the day it arrives. Call (432) 547-6806 and we’ll know before we show up.
