Tremron Home Additions & ADU: The San Antonio Owner’s Guide
If you’re planning a home addition or ADU in San Antonio and want Tremron pavers, retaining wall block, or hardscape materials tied into the build, we can help. A full addition or ADU project in San Antonio typically runs $45,000 – $130,000 depending on square footage, foundation work, utilities, and finish level. Most owners reach out once they realize their existing Tremron hardscape has shifted or cracked and needs to be integrated into the new structure properly, not patched around.

Tremron products are everywhere in San Antonio driveways, patios, and pool decks. When you’re adding square footage, those existing pavers don’t just sit there. They get cut, re-laid, re-compacted, or sometimes replaced entirely. Doing it wrong means a wavy patio line against your new foundation, or a paver edge that sinks six months after the addition is done. We’ve fixed enough of those to know: get the hardscape right at framing stage, not after.
Which Tremron Products This Applies To

Tremron manufactures pavers, wall blocks, and slabs across several product lines, and the compatibility question usually comes down to two things: the paver’s dimensions and its color batch. Tremron’s most common San Antonio installations include their Holland stone, Bullnose coping for pool edges, and large-format patio slabs. Here’s the gotcha most homeowners miss: Tremron changes color formulations between production runs. A paver bought in 2019 will not perfectly match one bought this year, even with the same color name. Sun fading in San Antonio makes this worse. If we’re extending an existing Tremron patio as part of your addition, we’ll pull the old pavers and re-lay them with the new ones in a pattern that hides the transition rather than creating a two-tone seam.
For retaining walls tied to additions, you’ll need the right Tremron block series. Their freestanding wall blocks are not rated for the same loads as their structural retaining wall blocks. In San Antonio’s expansive clay soil, a freestanding block used where a structural block belongs will bulge and lean within two seasons. We pull permits for retaining walls over four feet and we spec the block to the actual soil and drainage conditions on your lot, not a catalog photo.

Signs Your Tremron Hardscape Is Failing Before or During an Addition
- Pavers sinking or lipping near the foundation line. This usually means the base material was under-compacted before the original install. When we cut into it for the addition, the whole edge can loosen. We re-compact with a plate tamper and add geotextile fabric where the soil is soft.
- Hairline cracks running through multiple pavers in a row. San Antonio’s clay soil expands and contracts hard through dry summers and wet springs. A continuous crack line usually points to a structural issue under the pavers, not a bad batch of block.
- Water pooling against the paver edge after rain. If the drainage was never pitched correctly, your new addition will inherit that water problem. We correct grade before any new slab or framing goes in.
- Wall block leaning or starting to bow outward. That’s a drainage failure behind the wall, which builds hydrostatic pressure. You can’t just push the block back. The wall needs to be dismantled, drained properly, and rebuilt.
- Paver color fading unevenly across the patio. Some of that is normal sun exposure. But uneven fading in a checkerboard pattern often means the original installer mixed pavers from different production runs. When we extend the patio, we sort by tone and lay them in a way that looks intentional.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For the Tremron hardscape work that rolls into a home addition or ADU in San Antonio, here’s what you can expect:
- Existing paver patio sync or extension: $3,500 – $11,000 depending on square footage and whether we’re salvaging old pavers or ordering new Tremron stock.
- Retaining wall rebuild or new wall under 4 feet: typically $4,000 – $9,000 for structural block with proper drainage behind it.
- Full home addition (room, bump-out, or suite): $45,000 – $130,000 including framing, foundation, roofing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC tie-in, drywall, flooring, and finish carpentry.
- ADU construction (detached or garage conversion): $90,000 – $220,000 for a standalone unit with kitchen, bath, and its own utility drops.
The range on additions comes down to whether we’re building on a slab, a crawlspace, or dealing with San Antonio’s clay soil requiring deeper footings. Every quote includes a line-item breakdown before you sign anything. No change orders unless you request a change. The number you approve is the number you pay. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the work in writing, and we do a free second visit if something fails after the job closes. Luca Romano walks every finished job himself before we call it done.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely do one thing before calling: mark the spots where pavers have sunk, cracked, or shifted and take photos. That gives us a head start on the estimate. What you shouldn’t do is start pulling pavers up near your foundation line, especially if the addition is already framed. Removing the wrong pavers can destabilize the compacted base and shift load onto the new footing. For retaining walls over four feet, San Antonio requires a permit and an engineered design. That’s not a weekend project. Call (432) 547-6806 and we’ll come look at what you’ve got, tell you what needs to move, what can stay, and hand you a written price before any work starts.
FAQs

Tremron pavers themselves typically last 25 to 40 years, but the base underneath them in San Antonio’s clay soil usually needs attention around the 8 to 12 year mark. The pavers rarely fail. The base does. Call (432) 547-6806 and we’ll tell you if your base is still sound with a free site inspection.
Yes, if the failure is isolated to a small area and the base is still compacted, we can cut out the bad section, re-level the base, and lay new pavers in the same pattern. If the base has washed out or the soil has shifted, spot repair buys you a few years at most. We’ll be straight with you either way. Estimates are free at (432) 547-6806.
Most Tremron paver sync or extension work runs 3 to 7 days including demolition, base prep, and final compaction. Retaining wall rebuilds take about a week with proper drainage installation. The full addition timeline is separate and depends on scope, permits, and inspections. We give you a written schedule before we start so you know exactly what happens and when.
We order Tremron pavers per job from the San Antonio supplier, but we keep a small stock of the most common Holland stone colors and bullnose coping on hand for repairs. If you’re matching an older color, we’ll pull samples and lay them in daylight at your place before ordering the full quantity. Color batch mismatches are real, and we’d rather catch that before the pallets arrive.
