Barrette Fence Installation: The San Antonio Owner’s Guide
If you have a Barrette fence product and a failed section, post, or gate hardware, we can match the part and install it for between $3,500 and $9,000 depending on how much fence is involved. Most Barrette fence repairs in San Antonio take one to two days once parts are confirmed, and we stock common Barrette-compatible rails, pickets, post caps, and gate kits on our trucks. What we usually hear first: a gate that drags or won’t latch, a post leaning after a storm, or a section of vinyl that cracked clean through during one of our dry August heat spells. The product itself is solid; it’s the weather and the soil that test it.

Which Barrette Models This Applies To
Barrette Outdoor Living makes several vinyl and aluminum fence lines under different names: ActiveYards, Barrette, and UltraMax are the ones we see most around San Antonio neighborhoods like Stone Oak, Helotes, and Alamo Ranch. The compatibility gotcha is that Barrette rail profiles changed subtly over the years, particularly the bottom rail channel width on their vinyl privacy lines from around 2016 onward. If you still have the original paperwork, check for a six-digit part code printed on the inside of the post cap or along the bottom rail lip. No paperwork? Measure the rail face width and the post wall thickness, and we can usually identify the series from that. We’re an independent local contractor, not affiliated with Barrette, but we know their catalog well enough to match OEM specs or a quality equivalent that holds up the same way.

Signs Your Barrette Fence Installation Is Failing
- Gate sagging or dragging on the latch side. The hinge posts weren’t set deep enough or the hinges themselves have wallowed out. In San Antonio’s shifting clay soil, a post set less than 24 inches deep will move within two seasons.
- Post leaning after a heavy rain. Water gets in around the base, softens the soil, and the whole post starts walking. We see this most on the north side of homes where drainage runs downhill.
- Vinyl pickets cracking at the top corners. UV exposure over several Texas summers makes rigid PVC brittle. Once one picket goes, the ones next to it are usually close behind.
- Bottom rail sagging between posts. The rail wasn’t supported properly or the spacing between posts exceeds manufacturer spec. On long runs, even a half-inch sag becomes visible fast.
- Aluminum panels rattling in the wind. The screw clips that hold panels to posts have loosened or stripped. This is a simple fix, but it gets worse if ignored because the panel abrades the post coating.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Full Barrette fence installation in San Antonio runs $3,500 to $9,000 for a typical residential project. On the lower end, you’re looking at replacing a section of vinyl pickets and a few posts. On the higher end, it’s a full perimeter with aluminum posts, new gate hardware, and concrete footings. Here’s how it breaks down:
- Partial section replacement: $3,500 – $5,500
- Full vinyl fence replacement: $5,000 – $9,000
- Aluminum fence with gate rebuild: $4,000 – $8,000
- Post reset only (concrete footings, no new panels): $3,500 – $5,000
Every quote is a written line-item price before we start. You’ll know exactly what the parts cost, what the labor costs, and what the warranty covers. No change orders unless you ask for something different mid-project.
DIY or Call Us?
If a gate latch is sticking, you can safely adjust the striker plate with a screwdriver. If a post is leaning, you can re-square it temporarily with a brace. What we don’t recommend: digging out and resetting posts deeper than 18 inches in San Antonio clay, mixing and setting concrete footings in July heat, or attempting to stretch aluminum panels that were cut too short. That last one requires a come-along and enough tension to seriously hurt you if a clamp slips. Fence work looks simple until you’re three hours into a dig and the post still isn’t plumb. Call (432) 547-6806 and we’ll tell you over the phone whether it’s worth a service call.

FAQs

Expect 15 to 20 years from Barrette vinyl and 20 to 25 from their aluminum, assuming posts were set correctly and the soil drains. Gates fail sooner than fence lines, usually at the hinge hardware around year 8 to 12. Call (432) 547-6806 for a free assessment if your fence is past its first decade.
Yes, in most cases we can dig out the old footing, reset the post in new concrete, and reattach the existing panels without replacing any of the fence itself. If the post base has rotted or the vinyl has cracked at the bottom, replacement is the better fix. We’ll show you photos of the damage before we recommend anything.
Most section replacements take one day. A full fence replacement runs two to three days including footing cure time. If we’re setting posts in concrete, expect a day for the posts to set before we hang panels.
We stock common Barrette-compatible rails, pickets, post caps, hinges, and gate latches on our trucks, and we can source OEM-specific parts from local suppliers in San Antonio within one to two business days. If you can send us a photo of the failed part, we’ll confirm the match before we show up.
If your Barrette fence is leaning, cracked, or sagging, call (432) 547-6806 and tell us what you’re seeing. We’ll give you a straight answer on what it takes to fix it and what it’ll cost. You’ll get a written price before any work starts, and Luca Romano does the final walkthrough on every fence project himself. The craft comes first. Everything else follows.
