Boral Kitchen Remodeling: The San Antonio Owner’s Guide

Boral kitchen remodeling in San Antonio typically runs $14,000 to $45,000 installed, depending on cabinet run length, countertop material, and how much of the existing layout changes. We stock Boral-compatible materials on the truck and can have a written price in your hands before any work starts. The call usually starts the same way: someone pulls a drawer and the glide comes with it, or a hinge has been loose so long the door won’t close square, or a laminate edge has peeled back along the sink and now the substrate is swelling. Boral builds a solid cabinet, but years of San Antonio humidity cycles, hard water, and daily use will find the weak points eventually.

Here’s what you need to know about Boral kitchen remodeling in San Antonio: what fails, what it costs to fix or replace, and whether the job needs a pro.

Which Boral Models This Applies To

Boral’s kitchen line spans several profiles, and the part you need depends on which profile you have. In San Antonio, we see three Boral kitchen configurations most often: flat-panel door profiles (often sold under Boral’s slab-door series), Shaker-style profiles with mitered frames, and raised-panel profiles with a center panel that’s press-fit into the frame. Each uses different hinge geometry, and that’s where owners get tripped up. A hinge that fits a slab door will often sit proud on a mitered Shaker frame, which throws the reveal off by an eighth of an inch and makes the door look wrong every time you walk past it.

To identify what you have, look for a manufacturer label inside the drawer box or on the back of a door. Boral marks their casework with a series code on the inside of the sink base cabinet, usually on the left panel. If the label is gone, measure the hinge boring pattern: Boral’s current production uses a 35mm cup bore with a 3mm to 6mm reveal, depending on overlay style. On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: Boral’s OEM hardware is solid, but for hinges and glides we’ll often recommend a quality aftermarket equivalent from Blum or Salice, because the geometry matches Boral’s boring and the warranty is just as long. You’re not losing anything by going aftermarket on hardware, and you’ll often save 20 to 30 percent on the part cost.

We’re an independent San Antonio remodeler, not a Boral affiliate. That matters because we can tell you honestly when a Boral part is worth paying OEM prices for, and when it isn’t.

Signs Your Boral Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

  • Doors that won’t stay closed or hang crooked. The hinge has lost tension or the cup is pulling out of the door panel. This starts as a click when you close the door, then becomes a visible sag. Left alone, the door stresses the hinge screws until they strip the door panel itself, and then you’re repairing wood, not just swapping hardware.
  • Drawers that scrape, stick, or wobble side to side. Boral’s drawer glides are side-mount on older runs and under-mount on newer ones. When a glide loses its bearings, the drawer still slides but with a grumble and a wobble. If you replace the glide early, the drawer box survives. If you wait, the box edge wears and you’ll need a new drawer, which changes the job from $150 to $1,500 in a hurry.
  • Laminate or thermofoil edges lifting around the sink or dishwasher. Boral’s edge banding is thermally fused, but San Antonio’s humidity plus a poorly sealed sink gasket is a known failure point. Once water gets into the substrate, the panel swells and the edge peels back. You can’t glue this back down successfully; the substrate needs to dry or the panel needs replacement.
  • Face frames separating at the corners. This is rare on Boral’s solid-wood frames but happens when a cabinet was installed slightly out of square and has been carrying load it wasn’t designed for. The joint opens, the door gap grows, and the cabinet starts to telegraph failure through the countertop seam above it.
  • Sink base cabinet floor soft or stained. The first sign is usually a musty smell, then a stain you can’t scrub off, then a floor panel that flexes when you set a detergent bottle down. Boral’s sink bases are built with a moisture-resistant panel, but no cabinet survives a slow leak forever.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

An open kitchen and dining area after a remodel

A full Boral kitchen remodel in San Antonio runs $14,000 to $45,000. That range covers everything: demolition of the existing kitchen, new Boral or Boral-compatible cabinetry, countertops, plumbing and electrical adjustments, backsplash, hardware, and finish work. The spread comes from three drivers: how many linear feet of cabinetry you’re replacing, what countertop material you choose (a basic laminate top is dramatically cheaper than quartz or natural stone), and whether the footprint changes. Moving a sink to a different wall adds plumbing scope; moving a cooktop adds gas or electrical work, and that’s where costs climb.

For a smaller Boral cabinet refresh, you’re looking at $4,000 to $13,000 for cabinet installation alone, $2,000 to $6,500 for countertops, and $800 to $2,500 for a backsplash. We break every line item out in writing: materials, labor, disposal, and permit fees if applicable. The price we hand you before tools come out is the price you pay at the end. Every part we install carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something isn’t right, we make it right, backed in writing.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely diagnose the problem and take measurements. Pull the drawer, read the glide markings, take photos of any label inside the cabinet. You can check hinges for loose screws and snug them down with a screwdriver if the wood hasn’t stripped. But once the question becomes “do I replace this or rebuild this,” call (432) 547-6806. The fastest way to turn a $200 hinge job into a $2,000 door replacement is guessing wrong on the overlay or boring pattern. And if the failure involves a sink base or any cabinet that’s been wet, you’re dealing with water damage and possibly mold in the wall cavity behind it. That’s not a Saturday project.

We show up with the right Boral-compatible parts, get the doors square and the drawers gliding, and hand you a written price before the work starts. If we get there and the part we brought isn’t the right match, we don’t hack it in anyway. We order the right one and come back. That’s the job.
