Boxabl Windows & Doors: The San Antonio Owner’s Guide
If you own a Boxabl in San Antonio and a window or door has failed, here’s the straight answer: we stock Boxabl-compatible windows and doors and install them for $450 – $2,800 per unit depending on size, glass package, and frame condition. Most swaps take us under four hours on site. What owners usually notice first is a draft that wasn’t there last season, condensation fog between the glass panes, or a door that suddenly needs a shoulder to close. San Antonio heat does a number on factory seals and frames, and the Boxabl units are no exception. We’ll tell you what failed, what it costs, and whether the part is worth replacing versus repairing.

Which Boxabl Models This Applies To

Boxabl has shipped Casita units with a couple of different window and door configurations since production ramped up, and the part you need depends on which generation you own. The original Casita runs a 36-inch entry door with a single fixed window adjacent to it, plus smaller slider-style windows on the side walls. Newer production switched to a slightly narrower door frame and a low-E double-pane window package. The compatibility gotcha: the window rough openings are modular and set 16 inches off the floor plate, but the older frames used a different exterior trim profile that doesn’t accept the newer snap-in weatherstripping. If you’re not sure which you have, look at the inside of the window frame for a printed sticker or embossed code starting with “BXW” or “BXD.” That code tells us the glass spec and the production series. We match OEM parts when available and use quality aftermarket equivalents when they’re actually better for Texas sun, which is most of the time.
We’re an independent San Antonio contractor, not affiliated with Boxabl, so we’re not locked into factory-only pricing or lead times. We also stock and install parts for KraftMaid cabinetry, Cambria countertops, and Silestone surfaces if the window or door issue is part of a larger Casita rehab.

Signs Your Boxabl Windows & Doors Is Failing
- Condensation between the panes. The inert gas between the two glass layers has leaked out and outside air with moisture has taken its place. The window still works, but the insulation value is gone and it’ll fog up from now on.
- The door drags or won’t latch without lifting the handle. Boxabl frames settle after transport and San Antonio’s clay soil movement makes it worse. The hinge alignment drifts and the strike plate no longer lines up.
- Visible gaps or daylight around the frame. The factory-installed weatherstripping compresses over two or three Texas summers. You’ll feel the draft before you see the gap, usually on the west-facing wall.
- Warped or soft frame corners. Humidity plus direct sun breaks down the frame sealant at the miter joints. Press on the corners; if they flex more than the middle of the frame, the structural seal is failing.
- The window sticks or drops when opened. The slider rollers and tracks wear out. Boxabl’s original slider hardware is light-duty and doesn’t love being opened and closed daily in dusty conditions like we get around Alamo Heights and Stone Oak.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s our pricing for San Antonio Boxabl window and door work, parts and labor included:
- Single fixed window replacement: $450 – $900
- Slider window replacement: $600 – $1,200
- Full window package (2 – 3 units): $1,200 – $3,500
- Entry door replacement (pre-hung, with threshold): $1,200 – $2,800
- Frame repair and re-seal (no glass replacement): $250 – $600
What drives the range is the glass package, whether the exterior trim and flashing can be reused or needs replacement, and how much frame repair is involved once we remove the old unit. You get a written price before any work starts, and the number on the invoice is the number you approved. Our window and door work carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, we make it right within a full year. No fine print.

AfterDIY or Call Us?
You can clean the tracks, check the weatherstripping, and tighten the hinge screws. That fixes maybe a third of the calls we get, and it’s worth ten minutes with a screwdriver. Where DIY goes wrong is pulling the window or door frame out of a Boxabl wall. The wall panel is a laminate and foam composite, not a stick-built frame. Once you break the exterior seal, you need to flash and reseal it correctly or you’ll get water intrusion inside the wall cavity within a season. We’ve repaired enough botched self-installs around San Antonio that we’d rather see you call us before the pry bar comes out. Luca Romano still walks every Boxabl window and door job himself, because the craft comes first. Everything else follows.

FAQs

Expect 8 – 12 years from the factory seals and weatherstripping in our climate. The glass itself will last decades; it’s the frame seals, rollers, and thermal barriers that degrade first under direct Texas sun. Call (432) 547-6806 for an exact assessment of your unit.
Yes, in about 40% of cases. Failed weatherstripping, loose hinges, sticking rollers, and minor frame seal gaps are repairable. Fogged double-pane glass and warped frames are not, and patching them is throwing money at a part that’s already done. Call (432) 547-6806 and we’ll tell you which boat you’re in.
Most single-unit replacements take 2 – 4 hours on site. A full window package or a pre-hung door with frame repair typically runs 4 – 6 hours. You’ll get a live arrival time and photo updates through The Relay Visibility Guarantee before and after the work.
We stock common window sizes, sliders, door thresholds, rollers, and weatherstripping on the truck for immediate installs. Atypical glass packages take 5 – 10 business days to source. Call (432) 547-6806 and we’ll confirm what we have for your model before you book.
