CWS Fence Installation: The San Antonio Owner’s Guide

If you’re holding a CWS fence part that’s failed, broken loose, or just won’t sit square anymore, here’s the short version: we stock and install CWS-compatible fence hardware and panels, and a full fence installation in San Antonio typically lands between $3,500 and $9,000 installed. Most owners discover the problem the same way you did, a gate that drags, a post that’s leaning after one good storm, or a panel that’s bowed out where the fasteners pulled through. We replace it, you stop thinking about it, and the fence actually stays put this time.

Which CWS Models This Applies To

CWS fence systems get spec’d into a lot of San Antonio properties because they hold up to heat and clay-heavy soil better than cheap big-box panels. What trips people up is that CWS hardware isn’t one universal line. Older installs from the early 2010s tend to use the Commercial Series post brackets with 2-3/8″ OD posts, while newer residential builds swapped to 2″ OD posts and thinner-gauge rails. Measure the outside of your post with a tape before you order anything. We’ve seen too many homeowners buy a 2-3/8″ bracket for a 2″ post and end up with a gate that swings like a saloon door. For CWS specifically, the OEM hardware is solid stuff, but we usually recommend a quality aftermarket bracket from a manufacturer like Oz-Post or Simpson Strong-Tie when the post itself is still sound. The OEM part is the right call if your system is under five years old and you want zero fitment surprises. If the post is rotted at grade or the concrete footer has shifted, no bracket swap fixes it and we’ll tell you that on the first call.

Signs Your CWS Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Gate drags or scrapes at the latch side. Usually a post that’s settled out of plumb, not a hinge problem. San Antonio’s clay soil expands and contracts hard with rain and drought, and a post set shallow will move every season.
  • Panel bows or bulges between posts. Fasteners are pulling through the rail. CWS rails are thinner than the old commercial stuff, and once one fastener lets go, the neighbors follow.
  • Post wobbles when you push on it. The footer has cracked or was undersized from the start. A wobbly post takes the whole section with it eventually.
  • Rust streaks running down from brackets or screws. Galvanization is failing. In San Antonio’s humidity cycles, cheap hardware starts rusting in three to five years, and rust expands and loosens the joint.
  • Section sits higher on one side after a storm. The ground shifted under the post footers. It’s not going to settle back on its own.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A full CWS-compatible fence installation in San Antonio runs $3,500 to $9,000 depending on linear footage, post condition, and whether we’re reusing existing concrete or pouring new footers. You’re paying for parts and labor together, and the number we quote is the number you approve, written down, before a single post hole is dug. That’s how we run every job at Sawyer Remodel San Antonio. Your quote includes removal and haul-off of the failed section, new hardware matched to your CWS post diameter, setting or re-setting posts in concrete, and a straight, plumb, secured install. Every installation carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If a bracket fails, a post shifts, or a gate sags inside that year, we come fix it. No argument, no invoice.

DIY or Call Us?

There’s real danger in fence work when posts are anchored in concrete. Cutting posts, pulling old concrete, and resetting sections without dropping a panel on yourself, a neighbor, or a gas line isn’t a weekend YouTube project. CWS hardware is designed to hold under tension, and when a post lets go mid-pull, it goes fast. What you can safely do: check your post diameter with a tape measure, mark where panels are failing, and snap photos before you call us at (432) 547-6806. That saves a trip on our end. What you shouldn’t do: try to cut and reset a concrete-set post yourself, especially within two feet of any utility flag. Luca Romano has watched enough near-misses to be blunt about it. We’d rather come out, give you a free estimate, and do it square.
