CWS Roofing: The San Antonio Owner’s Guide
We stock and install CWS-compatible roofing parts across San Antonio, with most repairs landing between $400 and $1,800 depending on what failed and how much decking or underlayment came with it. If your CWS roof is leaking, lifting, or showing granule loss along the eaves, we can usually match the part and get the repair done the same week. You’ll know something’s wrong when water stains appear on the ceiling after a hard rain, or you spot shingles in the yard after a wind event that didn’t seem all that serious.

Sawyer Remodel San Antonio is an independent service provider, not affiliated with CWS. That said, we work on CWS roofing systems regularly, and we keep the most common failure points on the truck: ridge cap, valley flashing, pipe boots, and starter strip.
Which CWS Models This Applies To

CWS roofing systems run on standard asphalt shingle profiles, which means compatibility comes down to shingle dimensions and exposure, not a proprietary locking mechanism. Most CWS installs we see in San Antonio use architectural shingles with a 5-5/8-inch exposure and standard 3-tab dimensions on older builds. The gotcha: CWS has used different granule blends over the years, and a shingle that looks right in the bundle can read as a patch job once it’s on the roof and the sun hits it. We color-match on site, not from a catalog photo.
When you’re identifying the part, check the underside of a loose shingle for the manufacturing code, or look at the roof decking in the attic for a leftover bundle wrapper. If you don’t have either, take a photo of the shingle edge and we can usually identify it from the profile and granule pattern. For CWS specifically, OEM matching matters more on roofs under 10 years old where the color hasn’t faded much. On older roofs, a quality aftermarket equivalent from GAF or Owens Corning often matches better than the original, because the original has faded and the new OEM bundle hasn’t.

Signs Your CWS Roofing Is Failing
- Granules collecting in gutters. That grit is the shingle’s UV armor. Once it starts shedding, the asphalt underneath bakes fast in the San Antonio sun, and you’re on a clock. CWS shingles typically start showing meaningful granule loss between year 12 and 15 in our climate.
- Curling at the corners or lifting along the rake edge. Thermal cycling does this. The shingle expands in the day and contracts at night, and after enough San Antonio summers, the corners lose their bond. If you can see shadow lines under the shingle edges from the ground, water is getting under them.
- Water stains inside, not always directly under the leak. Water travels along the roof deck before it drips, so the stain on your ceiling might be 6 to 10 feet from the actual breach. We trace it back to the source, which is usually flashing or a nail pop, not the shingle itself.
- Shingles in the yard after a storm. CWS roofs use standard nailing patterns, but if the original installer shot nails too high on the shingle, the wind gets under the tab and peels it clean. One missing shingle isn’t urgent. Twenty missing shingles is.
- Visible nail heads or popped nails on the roof surface. San Antonio’s clay soil shifts, and the roof framing moves with it. That movement can back nails out through the shingle, and every popped nail head is a pinhole waiting for the next rain.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For CWS roofing repairs in San Antonio, plan on $400 to $1,800 installed. Small jobs like replacing a section of ridge cap or resealing a pipe boot run $400 to $650. Mid-range work like a valley re-flash or replacing a 10-foot section of shingles lands around $800 to $1,200. If the decking underneath is rotted and needs a sheet of plywood cut in, that pushes you toward $1,500 to $1,800.
The price includes the parts, labor, haul-away of the old material, and a 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If the repair fails within the year, we come back and make it right, no argument. You’ll get a written price before we touch the roof, so the number on the invoice matches the number you approved.
DIY or Call Us?
If you want to check something yourself, the safest move is an attic inspection on a dry day. Bring a flashlight and look for water staining on the underside of the decking, especially around penetrations like vents and chimneys. That tells you where the leak is, not what caused it, but it’s useful information when you call us.
Going on the roof is a different conversation. CWS shingles get slick with morning dew, and San Antonio roof pitches run steep enough that one wrong step puts you in the ER. If you’re comfortable on a ladder, you can clear debris from gutters and visually check the eaves, but leave actual shingle, flashing, and sealant work to someone who does it every week. The repair costs less than the copay. If you’ve already spotted a problem, call (432) 547-6806 and we’ll get someone out to look.
FAQs

Most CWS architectural shingle roofs in San Antonio last 15 to 20 years, which is 3 to 5 years shorter than the national average because our UV index and thermal swings accelerate shingle breakdown. If your roof is past year 15 and you’re calling us every few months for a new repair, a replacement conversation starts making more sense than another patch.
Yes, if the failure is isolated, meaning one flashing point, one valley, or a section of shingles under 100 square feet. If the problem is widespread granule loss, soft decking, or shingles failing in multiple areas, repair money is better spent toward replacement. Call (432) 547-6806 and we’ll give you an honest read on which one you’re looking at.
Most repairs take 2 to 4 hours once we’re on site. If we have to cut out and replace decking, that adds an hour or two. We don’t quote a four-hour window and show up at the end of it. You get a live arrival time under the Relay Visibility Guarantee, and photo updates of the work before and after.
We keep the common CWS failure parts on the truck: ridge cap, valley flashing, pipe boots, starter strip, and matching granule colors for the older San Antonio installs. If you have a less common profile or a newer CWS line, we source it locally and it’s usually in hand within 2 to 3 business days.
If your CWS roof is showing any of the signs above, or you just want a second set of eyes before the next storm season, call (432) 547-6806 for a free estimate. We’ll give you a written price, walk you through exactly what we found, and let you decide from there.
