ECO Window Systems Windows & Doors: The San Antonio Owner’s Guide

We stock and install ECO Window Systems-compatible windows and doors across San Antonio, with full replacement typically running $4,500 to $15,000 installed depending on size, series, and how many units you’re swapping. Most single-window replacements are done in a day once the order lands. The way owners usually find us: a window that won’t latch, a door that drags against the frame after a storm, or glass that’s fogged between the panes and won’t clear up no matter how many times you wipe it down.

ECO Window Systems built a solid name in the vinyl window and door market, and their products hold up well in Texas heat when they’re installed correctly. But parts fail. Seals break down, rollers wear out, and hardware that worked fine for a decade starts binding. When that happens, you need someone who knows the product line and can get the right part matched the first time. That’s what we do.

Which ECO Window Systems Models This Applies To

ECO Window Systems offers several vinyl window and sliding door lines, and the parts aren’t always interchangeable across series. The most common lines we see in San Antonio homes are their single-hung, double-hung, horizontal slider, and casement windows, plus their 2-panel and 3-panel sliding patio doors. Within each line, you’ll find different frame depths and glazing options, and that’s where the compatibility gotcha lives.

Here’s the thing most people don’t know: ECO Window Systems changed their balance shoe and pivot bar design on the double-hung line around 2018. If your windows were installed after that, the older style replacement balances won’t seat correctly, and you’ll end up with a window that slams shut or won’t stay open. The label is the fastest way to identify what you have. Look for a small white or silver sticker on the inside of the frame, usually on the top rail or the side jamb. It’ll have a series code and sometimes a manufacturing date. If the sticker’s gone, we measure the balance channel width and the shoe profile to match it. Takes five minutes with the sash out.

For glass, ECO Window Systems used Intercept warm-edge spacers on most of their insulated glass units, and the glass thickness varies from 7/8″ to 1″ overall depending on the series. That’s not a guess-and-check situation. Order the wrong thickness and the new IGU won’t seat in the sash, or worse, it’ll seat and then blow a seal the first time the frame flexes in the heat. We measure every unit before we order.

Sawyer Remodel San Antonio is an independent service provider. We’re not affiliated with ECO Window Systems, but we work on their products constantly, and we stock their most common replacement parts on the truck.

Signs Your ECO Window Systems Windows & Doors Is Failing

  • Condensation between the glass panes. This means the insulated glass unit’s seal has failed. In San Antonio humidity, it shows up as fog or streaks that you can’t clean off because they’re inside the sealed unit. The glass will need replacement, not cleaning.
  • The window won’t stay up on its own. On double-hung windows, this points to a worn balance spring or a broken balance shoe. Texas heat accelerates spring fatigue, and we see it most on south- and west-facing windows that bake all afternoon.
  • Hard to crank or feels gritty when opening. Casement windows with stubborn operators usually have stripped gears or a bent hinge arm. Forcing the crank is how you turn a $40 hardware replacement into a full sash rebuild.
  • The door drags or sticks in one spot. A sliding patio door that scrapes along the track usually has worn rollers. ECO’s rollers are nylon with ball bearings, and after years of grit and San Antonio dust, they flatten or seize. The door gets harder to move until it won’t move at all.
  • Drafts or visible gaps around the sash. Weatherstripping on vinyl windows compresses over time, especially in direct sun. When the pile weatherstrip goes flat, you’ll feel air moving around the frame, and your AC bills will tell the same story.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For ECO Window Systems windows and doors in San Antonio, here’s what you can expect:

  • Single window glass replacement (IGU): $250 to $600 installed, depending on glass size and whether it has Low-E coating
  • Full window replacement (vinyl, standard size): $450 to $900 per window installed
  • Full window replacement (large or custom): $900 to $1,800 per window installed
  • Sliding patio door hardware (rollers, handle, latch): $150 to $400 installed
  • Full sliding patio door replacement: $1,800 to $4,500 installed
  • Full window replacement, whole house (8-12 windows): $4,500 to $15,000 installed

Every quote includes the part, the labor to remove and reinstall the sash or door panel, disposal of the old part, and a written warranty on our workmanship. We run under The Relay Visibility Guarantee, which means you get a written price before we start, live arrival time tracking, and photo updates before and after the job. No change orders, no surprises at the invoice. If the repair fails within 365 days, the Done Right Promise means we come back and make it right. That’s in writing on every job.

What drives the price: window size, whether you have Low-E or standard glass, how many units are being replaced, and whether the frame itself is damaged. A clean glass swap on an intact sash is the low end. A full frame replacement with rot repair around the opening is the high end.

DIY or Call Us?

Some things you can knock out yourself. Cleaning the track on a slider, vacuuming out the debris, and re-lubricating rollers with a dry silicone spray takes ten minutes and fixes a surprising number of dragging doors. Tightening loose handle screws, replacing a cracked lock lever, or resetting a window that jumped its track are all reasonable homeowner tasks if you’re patient and careful.

Here’s where DIY goes wrong: glass units are sealed and pressurized. If you try to replace an IGU yourself and you nick the edge or seat it crooked, you’ll crack the glass or blow the seal within months, and nobody warranties a DIY glass install. Balance springs on double-hung windows carry tension even when the sash is removed. Two hands, proper technique, and the right tools matter. If you’re not sure what series you have or the sticker’s gone, call us at (432) 547-6806. We’ll match the part the first time, and you won’t buy something online that doesn’t fit.
