Jerith Bathroom Remodeling: The San Antonio Owner’s Guide
If you own a home in San Antonio with a Jerith bathroom and a fixture or surface has failed, we can replace it. A Jerith bathroom remodel in San Antonio typically runs $9,000 to $28,000 installed, depending on what failed, what you’re upgrading, and whether we’re pulling permits. Most owners find us after a valve gives out, a shower pan cracks, or water has been sneaking behind a wall long enough to rot the framing.

You’ll know it when you see it. A Jerith bathroom that needs real attention doesn’t just look tired. It leaks, creaks, stains, or stops draining. The caulk pulls away from the tub. The vanity doors won’t close square. The grout darkens no matter how much you scrub it. That’s not cosmetic. That’s water and movement doing what water and movement do in a San Antonio house that sees hard water, humidity swings, and slab shifts.
Sawyer Remodel San Antonio is an independent remodeling contractor. We are not affiliated with Jerith, but we work on their bathrooms regularly and know where these installations fail and how to fix them properly.
Which Jerith Models This Applies To

Jerith bathrooms come in several configurations across San Antonio, from builder-grade tub surrounds in subdivisions like Stone Oak and Alamo Ranch to custom glass enclosures in Terrell Hills and Olmos Park. The most common failures we see are tied to the original installation rather than the brand: shower pans set without a proper pre-slope, valve bodies seated too deep in the wall, and tile backer that was never waterproofed at the seams.
Before you replace anything, take two measurements. First, check the valve trim plate. If it says Moen, Delta, or Kohler, the rough-in can often stay in the wall and we can swap cartridges and trim without opening tile. Second, measure the shower pan or tub from drain center to the back wall. Jerith tubs are usually 30 by 60 inches, but some smaller secondary baths in older San Antonio homes used 28 by 54 pans that are harder to source. That measurement alone determines whether your remodel is a straightforward swap or a full gut.
On the OEM versus aftermarket question: for Jerith-specific trim kits and escutcheons, OEM is usually the only clean fit. For cartridges, seals, and valve internals, we use the manufacturer’s part (Delta, Moen, Kohler) since Jerith sourced from them originally. Aftermarket cartridges are available, but we don’t install them. A $14 off-brand cartridge that fails in eight months costs more than the OEM part once you factor in the second service call.

Signs Your Jerith Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing
- Water stains on the ceiling below the bathroom. This is the one that gets your attention fastest. It usually means the shower pan liner or drain flange has failed. By the time the stain shows, the subfloor above has been wet for a while.
- Grout that keeps cracking or falling out. Cracking grout means movement. In San Antonio, that’s often slab settling or wood framing that swells with humidity. Caulk over cracked grout is a band-aid, not a repair.
- A shower valve that drips no matter how tight you turn the handle. The cartridge seats wear out. Hard water in San Antonio accelerates it. If the drip stops only when you wrench the handle with both hands, the valve stem is done.
- Tile that sounds hollow when you tap it. Hollow tile means the thinset bond has broken. Tap the wall in a few spots. If it sounds like a drum, water is likely behind it and the backer is failing.
- A musty smell that won’t leave. That’s mold feeding on trapped moisture, usually behind the tub skirt or under the vanity toe kick. Air freshener won’t fix it. The wet material has to come out.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In San Antonio, a Jerith bathroom remodel runs $9,000 to $28,000. The low end covers a single-surface replacement: new shower pan, new valve trim, new fixtures, fresh paint, and caulk. The middle of the range is a gut-and-rebuild of a standard 5-by-8 bathroom with mid-grade tile, a new vanity, and new plumbing fixtures. The top end includes moving plumbing, custom glass, heated flooring, and higher-end materials from our partner lineup like Kohler and Toto.

Every quote includes a written, line-item price before a single tool is picked up. You approve the number, and that’s the number on the invoice. No change orders, no “we found something” surprises. The workmanship is covered under our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If something isn’t right within a year, we make it right.
DIY or Call Us?
You can change a shower head, swap a trim plate, and replace a toilet flapper without touching a single tool that belongs to us. Those are surface items. But anything involving a shower valve, pan liner, drain seal, or waterproofing behind tile is not a weekend project. Get the waterproofing wrong and the damage stays hidden until the subfloor rots through. The repair cost triples.
If you’re not sure which category your problem falls into, take photos and call us. We’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a $40 cartridge or a $9,000 remodel. We’re at (432) 547-6806. Estimates are free.
FAQs

A Jerith bathroom built with proper waterproofing lasts 15 to 20 years, but the original builder-grade installs we see around San Antonio rarely make it past 10 to 12. The culprit is usually water intrusion at the shower pan or the valve wall. When we rebuild, it’s waterproofed to a higher standard than the original.
Yes, if the failure is isolated. A single valve, a cracked soap dish, or a failed drain seal is often a same-week repair in the $400 to $1,800 range. Once water has spread behind tile or under the pan, repair stops making sense and replacement costs less than chasing the damage. We’ll tell you which one you’re looking at before any work starts.
A single-surface replacement usually takes 3 to 5 working days. A full gut-and-rebuild of a standard bathroom takes 2 to 3 weeks in San Antonio, assuming no hidden framing damage once the walls are open. Permits, inspections, and material lead times can add a few days. We give you a written schedule before day one.
We keep common OEM cartridges, valve stems, drain assemblies, and trim kits on the truck for the fixture brands Jerith used. For Jerith-specific cosmetic parts that are discontinued, we source them through our local supply network in San Antonio and have them ordered within a day. If you’d like to know whether your part is still made, call (432) 547-6806 with the model number printed on the trim plate and we’ll check while you’re on the phone.
