KraftMaid Driveway & Pavers: The San Antonio Owner’s Guide
KraftMaid doesn’t manufacture driveway pavers. KraftMaid builds cabinetry. If you landed here looking for KraftMaid driveway and paver parts, what you actually need is a paving contractor in San Antonio who understands how to match existing pavers, repair failed sections, and work around the hardscape details that matter to a homeowner who chose KraftMaid-quality finishes inside the house. We handle paver driveway installation, concrete driveways, asphalt paving, and full driveway replacement across San Antonio, with written pricing before any work starts. Most paver repairs run $250 to $700 for sealing, $7,000 to $18,000 for a full paver driveway, and we’ll tell you exactly which number applies to your job before a single tool comes off the truck.

How Pavers Work With the Rest of Your Home
Here’s the honest framing: KraftMaid belongs inside your house. Your driveway is a different system entirely. That said, plenty of San Antonio homeowners who chose KraftMaid cabinetry for their kitchen care just as much about what the outside of the house says when you pull up. We work on homes in Alamo Heights, Stone Oak, Terrell Hills, and the growing neighborhoods around the Rim, and the pattern holds: the houses with carefully chosen interiors usually have driveways that need attention too. Pavers, concrete, and asphalt each fail differently in South Texas, and knowing which material you have determines the fix.

Which Driveway Materials We Work With
This matters more than a model number. Pavers come in three common formats in San Antonio: interlocking concrete pavers (usually 60mm or 80mm thick for driveways), clay brick pavers, and natural stone like travertine or flagstone. The 60mm pavers are rated for pedestrian use and patios. Driveways need 80mm. That’s a compatibility gotcha we see constantly: someone’s paver driveway is failing because a previous contractor laid 60mm pavers where 80mm belongs, and the first heavy truck finished the job. If you’re matching existing pavers after a repair, we identify the manufacturer and color lot before ordering. Matching a 15-year-old paver color is harder than it sounds. Faded surface, different dye lot, discontinued line. We’ll tell you upfront if a perfect match isn’t possible and what the closest alternative looks like. For concrete driveways, it’s a thickness question: 4 inches minimum for passenger vehicles, 5 to 6 inches if you park a truck or an RV. For asphalt, San Antonio heat softens older asphalt faster than most owners expect. A 10-year-old asphalt driveway here often looks like a 20-year-old driveway in Ohio.
Signs Your Driveway Is Failing
- Sinking or rutting where you park. If the wheels sit in shallow depressions, the base layer under the pavers or concrete has failed. This isn’t a surface fix. The section needs to come out, the base recompacted, and the surface rebuilt. In San Antonio’s clay-heavy soil, poor compaction is the number one cause.
- Pavers shifting or rocking underfoot. Loose pavers mean the edge restraint has failed or polymeric sand has washed out. Left alone, the shifting spreads. Individual pavers can be reset, but if a whole section moves, the base is the problem.
- Weeds or grass growing through joints. This tells you the joint sand is gone and water is getting under the pavers. More than a cosmetic issue. Water under pavers erodes the base and causes the sinking you’ll notice next year.
- Concrete cracking in a spiderweb pattern. Called crazing, and it’s common with San Antonio’s fast-setting concrete poured in summer heat. Crazing is cosmetic. A crack wider than a quarter inch, especially if one side is higher than the other, is structural. That section gets replaced, not patched.
- Asphalt crumbling at the edges. Asphalt fails from the outside in. If the edges are raveling and breaking away, the driveway has lost its structural integrity. Sealcoating won’t save it. The repair is cutting back to solid asphalt and repaving, or replacing the whole drive if it’s widespread.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Paver driveway installation in San Antonio runs $7,000 to $18,000 for a typical two-car driveway. Concrete driveway installation runs $4,500 to $12,000. Asphalt paving runs $3,500 to $9,000. Full driveway replacement runs $5,000 to $14,000. Driveway sealing runs $250 to $700. What moves the number: square footage, whether we’re pulling up old material and hauling it off, the condition of the base layer, paver style (basic concrete pavers are the low end, natural stone the high end), and any drainage work the site needs. Every quote from Sawyer Remodel San Antonio includes a written line-item price before work starts. The number you approve is the number you pay. No change orders, no surprise at the invoice. And the work carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, we make it right.

DIY or Call Us?
You can sealcoat an asphalt driveway yourself if it’s in decent shape and you’re patient with a squeegee. You can pull a loose paver, add sand, and reset it. You can clean and reapply joint sand on a paver patio. What you shouldn’t do: pour a concrete driveway, rebuild a paver base, or replace an asphalt drive. The base prep is everything, and a homeowner with a rented compactor gets a result that looks fine for 18 months and then fails. Same goes for matching pavers. We’ve seen DIY repairs that look like a quilt because the homeowner matched “close enough.” If you want an honest assessment of what’s worth doing yourself and what isn’t, call us at (432) 547-6806. We’ll tell you straight, and the estimate is free.
FAQs
A properly installed paver driveway on a properly compacted base lasts 30 to 50 years in San Antonio. The pavers themselves rarely fail. What fails first is the base or the edge restraint. We see drives that need major base work after 10 to 15 years when the original install was rushed.
If the sinking or shifting is isolated to one section, we can pull those pavers, fix the base, and reset them. If the entire drive is moving or the base was never compacted properly, full replacement is the honest answer. We’ll tell you which one applies before you spend a dollar. Call (432) 547-6806 for an assessment.
Most paver driveway replacements in San Antonio take 3 to 5 working days, including demolition, base prep, laying, and joint sand. Concrete takes 2 to 3 days for demolition and pour, plus a 7-day cure before you park on it. Asphalt is fastest: often one day, drivable in 48 hours.
We order pavers, concrete, and asphalt through our regular San Antonio suppliers after we confirm your measurements and match existing colors. We don’t keep pavers sitting on a shelf because color lots and styles vary too much. Ordering per job means better matches and fresher material. Typical material turnaround is 3 to 7 business days.
