Toto Driveway & Pavers: The San Antonio Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Toto-compatible driveway and paver components across San Antonio, with most parts matched and installed the same week you call. Typical installed pricing for paver driveway work runs $7,000 to $18,000 depending on square footage, while smaller repairs and partial paver replacements fall between $350 and $2,500. Most San Antonio homeowners discover a problem the same way: a paver shifts under the car, a drainage channel stops draining after a hard Hill Country rain, or the sand joints between pavers start washing out onto the sidewalk.

We’re an independent contractor, not a Toto affiliate, but we work with Toto-compatible surface and drainage components every week across Alamo Heights, Stone Oak, and Helotes. If your Toto product line includes driveway pavers, permeable paver grids, or channel drains, this page tells you what fails, what it costs, and whether you should touch it yourself.
Which Toto Models This Applies To

Toto’s outdoor surface line is smaller than its plumbing lineup, but the parts that show up on San Antonio driveways are specific. You’ll typically see Toto permeable paver systems, resin-bound gravel grids, and linear channel drains that tie into paver or concrete driveways. Each has different failure points and different parts availability.
The compatibility gotcha we see most often: Toto channel drain grates come in modular widths, and a 4-inch grate from one series will not seat properly in a different series channel body. The grate clips are spaced differently. Before you order anything, check the molded number on the underside of the existing grate or the inside wall of the channel. If that number is worn off, measure the interior channel width in millimeters, not inches. A 100mm channel and a 4-inch channel are close enough to confuse and different enough to leak. When it comes to replacement decisions, OEM Toto grates cost 20 to 40 percent more than quality aftermarket equivalents, but the aftermarket grates sometimes sit 2 to 3 millimeters proud of the channel edge. On a driveway, that’s a trip hazard. We stock both and will tell you which makes sense for your specific run.

Signs Your Toto Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Pavers rocking under your tires. This is almost always a base problem, not a paver problem. The limestone base under the pavers has eroded or settled, usually after a dry spell followed by heavy rain. San Antonio’s expansive clay soil is hard on paver bases because it swells and shrinks with moisture.
- Channel drain overflowing in normal rain. The grate is clear but water backs up. That means the drain body has shifted underground, or the outlet pipe has collapsed or filled with sediment. We see this a lot after construction nearby loosens the soil.
- Sand joints disappearing between pavers. Polymeric sand washes out, ants excavate it, or the last installer used plain mason sand instead of polymeric. Once joints empty, pavers start drifting apart at the edges and the whole field loosens.
- Efflorescence or white crust on paver edges. This is mineral salt wicking through the paver. It’s cosmetic but persistent in San Antonio because our water is hard, and a lot of older Austin chalk and limestone base material is in circulation here. It usually indicates water sitting in the paver or underneath it longer than it should.
- Grate cracks under a standard car. A cast iron grate should handle a sedan without issue. If yours cracked, it was either a load-rated pedestrian grate used on a driveway, or the channel lip supporting the grate has settled, leaving the grate to span an unsupported gap. Both are fixable and neither is DIY territory.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For a full paver driveway installation in San Antonio, budget $7,000 to $18,000. That range covers a two-car driveway on flat ground with a new compacted base at the low end, and a longer or sloped driveway with curves, borders, and a drainage channel tie-in at the high end. Partial paver repair, where we pull a section, re-level the base, and reset the pavers, runs $350 to $1,500 depending on how many square feet moved and whether new base material has to be hauled in.
Channel drain replacement, including breaking out the old channel, setting a new Toto-compatible channel body, and pouring a new concrete collar, runs $600 to $2,500 per linear run in most San Antonio driveways. A grate-only replacement is the cheap fix: $80 to $400 for the grate itself plus a short service call if we install it. Every quote we give is a written line-item price before work starts. No change orders, no surprise at the end. The work carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not right, we return and make it right within the first year.

DIY or Call Us?
Some paver work is genuinely within a homeowner’s reach. Re-sanding joints is a weekend job if the pavers are still flat and the base is sound. Pulling one cracked paver and dropping in a replacement is doable if you can match the color and the original base wasn’t disturbed. Swapping a channel drain grate takes ten minutes with the right clips. But anything involving base material, slope, or drainage pipe belongs with a crew. Lifting pavers without preserving the base turns a $400 repair into a $7,000 replacement. And if you have a full-depth paver failure, no amount of top-dressing will fix what’s happening 8 inches down.

FAQs

A properly installed paver driveway in San Antonio lasts 25 to 30 years before the base needs meaningful work, though the surface wears differently depending on traffic and tree cover. Pavers installed on thin or poorly compacted base routinely fail within 5 to 7 years, and that’s the most common lifespan problem we see. Call (432) 547-6806 if you want us to check your base depth before you spend money on surface repairs.
Yes. If the paver is intact but rocking, we pull it, re-level the sand or base beneath it, and reset it for $350 to $700 in most San Antonio driveways. If the paver itself is cracked, edge-to-edge replacement is cheaper than trying to patch it and having the crack telegraph through. Call (432) 547-6806 for an exact quote, which is always free.
Most paver driveway installations in San Antonio take 3 to 7 working days, including demo, base work, lay, and sanding. Partial repairs are usually done in a single visit. The longest variable is weather, since laying pavers on saturated base causes settling. Call (432) 547-6806 and we’ll give you a written schedule with your quote.
We stock common Toto-compatible channel drain grates, replacement pavers in San Antonio’s most-used colors, and polymeric sand on the truck. Uncommon grate sizes and specialty colors are ordered and arrive within a week. If you send us a photo of the part and the molded number on the underside, we’ll confirm whether it’s on the shelf before you book. Call (432) 547-6806 to check.
